The Challenge

A trusted name in farm auctions, held back by paper and phone.

AMA Sales Victoria had been running farm equipment auctions for decades — building deep trust with farmers, dealers and machinery buyers across regional Australia. But their operations were almost entirely manual. Listings were managed on paper, bids tracked by phone, invoices printed and posted. Buyers had no way to browse upcoming auctions online, and sellers had no visibility of interest before auction day.

The opportunity was clear: digitise the entire operation without losing the personal relationships that had made AMA Sales a trusted name in regional Victoria.

Discovery

We went to Euroa before we opened a design file.

We spent time on the ground in Euroa — attending an auction, talking to buyers and sellers, and documenting every paper-based workflow. The goal was to build digital tools that matched the way the team actually worked, not force them into new behaviours.

What we found was a deeply trusted local operation with workflows that had evolved organically over decades. The challenge was not to replace those workflows, but to digitise them faithfully — preserving the relationships and trust signals that made AMA Sales work, while removing the physical constraints that were holding back its growth.

Approach

From paper ledgers to a fully automated auction platform.

Every feature we built had a direct equivalent in the existing paper-based workflow. We didn't introduce new processes — we made the existing ones faster, more accurate, and available online.

Marketplace architecture

A full auction management system: listings, bidding, verification, payments, and commission tracking — all in one platform, replacing every paper workflow.

Automated operations

Nightly lot processing, automated invoicing, and commission statements replaced the manual paperwork entirely — freeing the team to focus on relationships.

National reach

Third-party auction platform integrations expanded inventory reach beyond Victoria, bringing interstate buyers and sellers onto the platform from day one.
